Vintizer is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way connected to Eastman Kodak Company, Harman Technology (Ilford Photo), FUJIFILM Corporation, Polaroid B.V., CineStill Film, or any other manufacturer or seller of photographic film.
Why Film Names Appear Here
This site does two things. It publishes writing about photographic emulsions, and it offers a browser tool that models how those emulsions rendered a picture.
Both require naming the films. There is no way to write about Kodachrome without writing the word Kodachrome, and no way to tell you which emulsion a model was built from without naming it. Where film names appear on this site, they identify the real product being discussed or referenced. They are the property of their respective owners.
What the Tool Is, and Is Not
The presets in the film lab carry Vintizer’s own names — Hard Shadow 64, Soft Skin 400, Tungsten Bloom 800, and so on. Each is described as being after a particular film. That wording is deliberate and it means what it says: the preset is our model, built by studying the reference, and it is not the film.
The output is not a photograph taken on film. It is a digital file processed by mathematics we wrote. No manufacturer reviewed it, approved it, or had any involvement in it.
We think being clear about this is more interesting than being vague about it. A model that admits what it is can also tell you where it falls short — and every film stock page on this site has a section doing exactly that.
What We Do Not Use
We do not use manufacturer logos, brand typefaces, packaging designs, or product photography. We do not present our output as being from any manufacturer. We do not suggest any manufacturer has reviewed or approved this work.
Corrections and Requests
If you represent a rights holder and something here concerns you, write to us and we will look at it properly. We would rather fix something than argue about it.
